Online Fundraising – Terms and Conditions

We’ve written these terms and conditions because it is important that it is understood where and why data is collected in relation to our online sponsorship platform and what your rights are in relation to it. It’s important also for fundraisers and donors to understand how we handle the money that is donated.

Just for clarity

  • “We” or “we” or “us” means the Social Enterprise that is Sports for Schools®, which is a trading name of Sportivater Limited;
  • “You” or “you” means anyone using the online sponsorship part of the website: usually that is a parent, guardian, relative or friend of the child who is raising the money for their school;
  • “Fundraiser” means the person who is using the website to raise money for their school: usually this will be a child raising money for an athlete-led event at their school.

We are conscious that children will be identified as a result of the information given and indeed the children are the named Fundraisers. However, no details of any child will be held other than that which is necessary in order that the fundraising activity can occur. We ask that only parents or guardians set up a fundraiser page on behalf of children.

We will collect basic contact information about you and your child to set up your account so you can make donations or raise funds. We will also ask you to register a username and password so you can gain secure access to your account in the future

We will not ask for any information concerning a child except for:

  • Fundraiser First Name
  • Fundraiser Last Name
  • Class
  • School Year
  • School (automatically linked to the child)

Any other information provided will be voluntarily given by the parent/guardian setting up the fundraiser page and is not asked for by Sports for Schools.

The General Data Protection Regulation(“GDPR”) defines personal data as information from which a living individual can be identified.  It involves but is in no way limited to; name, address, (email and physical), gender, occupation, telephone number, date of birth, personal interests and occupation. This is the sort of information we may ask you to supply to us when you use the services of the website.

The information and data collected will also be integrated in the Customer Relationship Management systems used by Sports for Schools. This will include the name of any child because the child is the Fundraiser.

If you decide that you do not want to hear further from us then you need to write to us at Sports for Schools to let us know (see contact section below).

We will only “opt you in” to receive non-transaction related communications from us if you have specifically made that request. We will usually ask you registration or other sensible place during your interaction with our website(s). If you do not wish to receive direct marketing or market research information then you must opt out when we offer that option to you. If in doubt, OPT OUT.

When you use the Sports for Schools website (as is the case with most websites) certain limited anonymous information (such as your browser type and IP address) will also be collected by us automatically.

You have the right to request details of any personal information that we store about you (also known as a subject access request). For a subject access request to be valid, it should be made in writing and we will respond within 28 days.

Information about children may be released to a person with parental responsibility. However, the best interests of the child will always be considered. Even if a child is young, data about them is still their personal data and does not belong to anyone else. If we are confident that the child can understand their rights, we will respond to the child and not the person with parental responsibility.

If you decide that you no longer want us to hold your data, you have a right to be forgotten. If that is the case for you, then please contact us (see contact details) and we will follow our procedure to implement the deletion of the relevant data.

We take your privacy and the protection of your information very seriously and we’re committed to keeping it safe and managing it in accordance with our legal responsibility. However, no internet-based site can be 100% secure and by using the site you agree that you will not hold us responsible for unauthorised or unintended access that is beyond our reasonable control.

If we are aware of a breach of security and there is a risk of harm to individuals, we will report the breach to the Information Commissioner’s Office ( within 72 hours and also to you without undue delay.

Any money that you give through the website is legally money that is then owned by the school for which the money is being raised. We are merely helping the school raise the money on their behalf. We keep separate account of the money we hold for each school. When all the sponsorship money is counted we tell the school how much money each fundraiser has raised online through this website so that they can add that to the total that has been raised by other means (usually in cash or by cheque using a sponsorship form).

We hope that once you’ve supported a child with sponsorship and made a donation that you won’t want to change your mind and ask for your money back from them. However, we do realise things can change, so we will gladly provide you with a refund on any donations you’ve made if you make that request within 14 days of making the donation. No refunds will be given for any subsequent cancellations after this initial 14 day period. As always, your statutory rights are not affected.

We hope this will be never be the case but if you do have a complaint about how we have handled your personal information or the online fundraising process, please (please please) contact us using the details below and we will investigate your complaint as a matter of urgency.

If you do not agree with any aspects of this policy please do not use our website.

Thank you for reading through this document: we hope it’s been easy to read. If you have any comments, questions or otherwise would like to get in touch with us, please do: we’d love to hear from you.
